There is now so much conclusive evidence of fasting and the relevant health benefits. On the other hand, there are so still so many people who continue to disagree with this form of weight control. It seems that every expert in medicine, health and fitness has something to say about the benefits of fasting. I stumbled across Bad Pilon’s East Stop Eat program last year and I must admit, two weeks into the program, I’m a huge advocate! For me, it provides the discipline I need to control my diet, it’s really easy to follow and I don’t have the restrictions that other diets make people conform to!
Therefore, I wanted to give you my top 7 benefits of fasting and why I am an absolute convert:
- Fasting promotes detoxification. As the body breaks down its fat reserves, it mobilizes and eliminates stored toxins.
- Fasting gives the digestive system a much-needed rest. After fasting, both digestion and elimination are invigorated.
- Fasting promotes the resolution of inflammatory processes, such as in rheumatoid arthritis.
- Fasting promotes the drying up of abnormal fluid accumulations, such as edema in the ankles and legs and swelling in the abdomen.
- Fasting can correct high blood pressure without drugs. Fasting has been known to normalize blood pressure in the vast majority of cases, the blood pressure will remain low after the fast, if the person follows a health-supporting diet and lifestyle.
- Fasting is the perfect gateway to a healthful diet and lifestyle. Going on a fast gives you the motivation and enthusiasm to make a fresh start.
- Fasting initiates weight loss with little or no hunger. Most people are surprised at how their desire for food reduces whilst fasting.
Some other key benefits include – quietening allergic reactions, including asthma and hay fever, clears the skin and whitens the eyes.
The key aspect to Fasting is to fast intermittent, which means fasting 1 to 2 days per week for 24 hours at a time. As an example, you would have you dinner at 7pm and then fast until 7pm the following day. They key being to make sure you eat everyday.
I guess at this point, you’ll have a ton more questions like won’t I lose muscle and won’t my body try as much fat as possible? Well, Fasting is easily misunderstood and these issues are well and truly addressed by Eat Stop Eat. As a convert, I recommend you take a look at East Stop Eat and see if it will wort for you.
